Privacy Policy

Rewrix is a browser extension that helps you read, write, explain and translate text you
select. This policy explains what it collects and why.
What we collect
- Your email address — to create your account and, if you subscribe,
to link your subscription. Authentication is handled by Supabase.
- Text you choose to act on — the specific selection you rewrite,
explain, translate, summarise or reply to is sent to our server and then to Anthropic
(the AI provider) to produce the result, and returned to you. When you ask Rewrix to
explain a short selection, up to about 800 characters of the surrounding paragraph are
sent with it, so a word is explained as it is used there. We do not store the
text of your selections or results on our servers. We keep only metadata for each request: a timestamp, the number
of characters and tokens, the action used (including the target language for a
translation), and success/failure — used for your usage
limit and for billing and abuse monitoring.
- Details you hide with 🛡 — before a request is sent, the extension
replaces them with placeholders such as ⟦PERSON_1⟧ and puts the real values back in the
result on your device. The real values are never sent to our server or to Anthropic.
Rewrix detects common formats (emails, phone, card and account numbers) but cannot
guarantee it finds everything — check the 🛡 panel before sending. Before each such
request the extension checks that none of the hidden values are in it and sends nothing
if one is. A receipt of your last 20 masked requests (masked text only) is kept on your
device.
- Payment details — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store
your card number.
What we do NOT do
- No advertising, no ad trackers, no sale of data.
- No reading or transmitting of page content except the text you explicitly select
and run an action on (plus its surrounding paragraph when you ask for an explanation).
- The text you send is not used by us to train models.
- The use of information received through the extension adheres to the
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy,
including the Limited Use requirements: it is used only to provide Rewrix's features to you, and is
never sold, used for advertising, or used to determine creditworthiness.
Third parties
- Anthropic — the AI provider; processes every request (rewrite, explain,
translate, summarise, reply). See Anthropic's privacy policy.
- Supabase — account storage and authentication.
- Google — only if you choose "Continue with Google" to sign in.
- Stripe — subscription payments.
- Railway — hosts the API server.
- Resend — sends account emails (sign-up confirmation, password reset) to your email address.
- Cloudflare — DNS for rewrix.com, and delivers email sent to support@rewrix.com.
Data stored locally in your browser
These are kept in your browser's extension storage on your device and are never sent
to our servers:
- your login session;
- a short history of your recent results;
- your settings, the words you choose to always hide, and the sites where you review
before sending;
- receipts of your last 20 masked requests (masked text only, never the hidden values).
Your 3 most recently used translation languages are stored with Chrome sync, so Chrome
may carry them between your own signed-in browsers. Signing out removes your session;
removing the extension or clearing its data removes the rest.
Your choices
You can sign out, stop using the extension, or delete your account by contacting us.
Deleting your account removes your profile and request metadata.
